Marine Police Officers Arrest 3 on Lake Martin for Felony Drug Possession
Matt Brooks - Alabama Marine Police
Alabama Marine Police officers arrested a Dothan man and two Montgomery men for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance after officers discovered what they believed to be cocaine aboard a vessel they had stopped near the Kowaliga Bridge on Lake Martin Saturday night.
“We were actually conducting a checkpoint canvassing for any witnesses that may have witnessed the fatal accident from the week before when this happened,†said Captain Matt Brooks. Officers Mark Fuller and Brad Harrison were talking to the men aboard a Sea Ray runabout when they saw what appeared to be a metal marijuana pipe in plain view aboard the boat. “That led to further investigation and during the course of examining the boat the officers found additional drug evidence, including what is believed to be cocaine,†said Captain Brooks.
The men were arrested and taken to the Elmore County Jail in Wetumpka. They were also charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana in the Second Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
